鈥媝alawa kani Word Wall

A word wall is a literacy tool comprising an organised collection of words which are displayed to provide a visual reference for students for their language and communication development and interaction.

The College鈥檚 palawa kaniWord Wall is part of our tangible commitment to being an inclusive community. Each word on the College Library鈥檚 Word Wall is a high frequency word which is written in both English and palawa kani, the language of Tasmanian Aborigines.

The aim of the palawa kani Word Wall is to make language accessible by placing words where every student can see and refer to them often, and thereby come to understand and see their relevance as we move forward together in a partnership of reconciliation, respect, honesty, and true friendship.

The Word Wall is located in the College Library as a means to acknowledge and support the language and culture of our First Nation people across lutruwita and to engage students within our shared library space.

Our palawa kani Word Wall is sourced from the and which makes language available for everyone. Students and their families are encouraged to visit the 50 Words website to see, hear and practice words in palawa kani, the language of Tasmanian Aborigines.
